About Tangail saree
Tangail sarees are handwoven on cotton and silk with hand worked buti, floral designs or contemporary motifs. The main feature of the Tangail saree is the extra weft buti, small motifs that are repeated all over the floor of the saree with the help of the Jacquard loom. Cotton Tangail is very popular because it is lightweight and great for everyday wear. Around 1,000 weavers and 2,000 auxiliary artisans, mainly in Nadia and some in Bardhaman district, are producing these colorful, easy-to-handle and exceptionally elegant cotton sarees.
